The Western Missouri Shooters Alliance has discovered that the local daily paper, the Kansas City Star, refuses to take classified advertisements for "certain" guns. The definition of "certain", however, is not certain. "We have not been able to get a definition of "certain" guns from the Star," said Kevin L. Jamison, attorney for the group. "A number of our members have complained about rejected classified advertisements for guns. Some have been told, inaccurately, that ads for "certain" guns were illegal. We have asked the Star what their criteria was for "certain" guns, to be told it was a case by case decision." "Their case by case decisions seem more to reflect the Star's notorious prejudice against their stereotype of gun owners, than the gun itself. Recently the Star refused a local police officer's ad for his old service pistol. When his girlfriend placed an ad for the same gun, it was accepted". WMSA is a Civil rights Union for gun owners allied with the Second Amendment Coalition of Mo in St. Louis, Northwest Missouri Shooters Alliance in St. Joseph, Central Missouri Shooters Alliance in Sedalia, Gun Rights for Individuals Now in Fayette, Three Rivers Second Amendment Council in Poplar Bluff, and other sporting and civil rights groups through Missourians for Personal Safety.
