"Our Rights are not what's wrong in Missouri"

WMSA, the Western Missouri Shooters Alliance is a not-for-profit corporation created to inform concerned Missouri citizens about legislation that affects their rights. This has become necessary since the majority of the news media knowingly suppresses the truth about gun control and seldom presents the pro-gun side of a story. This is, we believe, a violation of the 1st Amendment in order to eliminate the 2nd Amendment. It is our intention to educate the public and promote freedom as both our Constitution and Bill of Rights so clearly specify, and as our founding fathers intended. WMSA  -PO Box 11144, Kansas City, MO 64119

WMSA By Laws

MPS, Missourians for Public Safety, is the umbrella lobbying arm of viable Missouri grassroots organizations dedicated to the "right to keep and bear arms."  WMSA has representatives on the board of MPS.

Independent groups such as the NWMSA, North West Missouri Shooters Alliance, and the CMSA, Central Missouri Shooters Alliance have a companion relationship with WMSA

GCLA, the Gateway Civil Liberties Alliance, is a newly formed RKBA grassroots organization serving folks in the Saint Louis area and eastern Missouri.

The next time someone preaches on "gun control" to you,
you might want to ask him or her,
"whose gun and under whose control?"

--Jimmie Lee Hollis

"The great object is that every man be armed. Everyone who is able may have a gun." - Patrick Henry

Physician sees the light
Letters to the Editor -- Wall Street Journal --10/03/2001

"After the terrorist attacks I've been rethinking gun possession.  Long a staunch anti-gun supporter, I'm preparing to buy a handgun and get the training necessary to legally conceal it.
"As a physician I have seen what guns do to people.  This fostered my anti-gun beliefs.  The post-Sept. 11 U.S. now demands self-protection. Teachers, business people, and yes, physicians with weapons could help curtail the excessive carnage potential of a single madman with a gun, or a box cutter for that matter.  A few stories of thwarted terror attacks by armed citizens might change the mindset of the lawless who perpetrate such acts."

    Mark L. Helm, M.D.,
    Steamboat Springs, Colo..

"The plain meaning of the right of the people to keep arms is that it is an individual, rather than a collective, right and is not limited to keeping arms while engaged in active military service or as a member of a select militia such as the National Guard." -U.S. v Emerson, 5th Circuit Federal Court [published October 16, 2001]

"The current position of the United States, is that the Second Amendment more broadly protects the rights of individuals, including persons who are not members of any state militia or engaged in active military service or training, to possess and bear their own firearms." -Solicitor General Theodore B. Olson, May 6, 2002

Upcoming Area Events
To serve the communities of Eastern Kansas and Western Missouri, we make every effort to post a listing of upcoming events. Included are WMSA's General Membership Meetings, Gun Rights Rallies, Area Gun Shows, and similar events. If you'd like to have your event posted here, please contact Events List.

Personal Protection Course
WMSA conducts NRA certified Basic Pistol Safety and Personal Protection Courses. The courses are intended to teach the basic use of a firearm for self-defense. Currently, both classes are taught three times a year, but the class schedules are linked directly to demand. Firearms, ammunition and all course material are included.

Membership
WMSA offers a variety of memberships to choose from including Annual, Group, Subscriber, Senior, and Sponsor. Our strength is measured by our numbers. Each new membership makes us a stronger lobbying force - one that has already gained the respect among many in Jefferson City. Those interested in WMSA membership may download an application in Adobe Acrobat PDF format.

Stay Out of Jail Cards (new version June 2002)
In an effort to dispel many popular myths surrounding Missouri firearm laws, two of the members of the WMSA Board of Directors (one of which is a practicing attorney) have compiled a compendium of Missouri firearms laws. This comprehensive listing has been printed on small, wallet-sized cards which we distribute free of charge. It is also available for direct download in Adobe Acrobat PDF format.

Missouri's "Permit To Transfer Firearm" System
As of 28 August, 2007 it will no longer be required to get a Permit To Acquire (PTA) from the sheriff before buying a handgun. The federal NICS check is all that is required. For private sales it may be adviseable to transfer it through an FFL.

Bill of Rights   Since the corner stone of the WMSA is the 2nd Amendment, it should be obvious that the remainder of the foundation includes the rest of The Bill of Rights.

 Media Contact Reference
To counter the anti-gun bias of the dominant media, it is often times necessary to contact them and let them know that they have either mis-represented the facts, or have only reported one side of the story. It's equally important to let them know that it's appreciated when they accurately report the news.
WMSA Members Several members and Directors of WMSA have their own web pages. They often provide an adjunct to information contained in these pages.
