(Fairfax, VA) James Jay Baker, Chief Lobbyist for the National Rifle Association presented Kansas City, Missouri native Gary Davis with the Jay M. Littlefield Memorial award at the NRA board meetings January 12. This prestigious tribute is given annually in recognition of the member and legislative volunteer who demonstrates outstanding activism in defense of Second Amendment rights.

“I am proud to present this award to NRA Life Member Gary Davis. As a solid defender of the Second Amendment, he has worked tirelessly to protect the rights of the law-abiding,” said Baker.

Gary Davis, the first African American to receive the Littlefield award, is outspoken about his freedoms. “Many people aren’t aware that gun control was one of the first segregation laws that took effect in our country. Blacks couldn’t own firearms, vote, or own property. As an NRA member I am proud that they have been fighting for civil rights since 1871,” said Davis.

A Metro Kansas City bus driver, and longtime civil rights activist, Davis is an instrumental voice for fair and nondiscriminatory firearm laws. As the NRA-ILA Election Volunteer Coordinator (EVC) for Missouri’s fifth congressional district, Davis is responsible for organizing grassroots volunteer support for area pro-Second Amendment candidates at all levels of government. In addition to lobbying the Missouri State Legislature to protect the rights of the law-abiding, Davis is also the longest serving President in the history of The Western Missouri Shooters Alliance (WMSA).
