| Four Kansas City, Kan., teenagers were
charged Monday with murder in the weekend stabbing death of a man
delivering Chinese food. The Wyandotte County district attorney identified the victim as Zhihai Cui, 42. He worked as a deliveryman for New Town China Buffet at 38th Street and State Avenue in Kansas City, Kan. Charges were filed against Benjamin McReynolds, 15; Brandon Johnson, 15; Brandon McReynolds, 17; and Cortez Ennis, 14, said Chris Schneider, a spokesman for the district attorney. Each was charged with one count of first-degree murder. The teens were also charged with one count of aggravated robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery. Responding to a tip, police found Cui about 9:30 p.m. Friday lying in the road in the 3200 block of Rowland Avenue. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said Cui apparently was delivering an order to a nearby house when he was ambushed. Police were investigating whether the teens placed the order. The teens were being held in the Wyandotte County juvenile detention center. A detention hearing is scheduled for 1:15 p.m. today in Wyandotte County juvenile court. |
