We have two years and six months to prepare for Hillary Clinton’s race for the presidency. I have now moved into my new office at 2614 NE 56th Terr., Gladstone Mo 64119-2311. I can’t say that we are finished moving; I’m still unpacking boxes and looking for things. In the process, my coffee pot was broken, and I have been without a regular coffee source, withdrawal is a terrible thing. I have decided that I the next time I move I shall only require six men to carry me out to the hearse. Since I intend to be cremated, I may not need the other five guys. The new office has two bathrooms. I have never had an office with two bathrooms before. I could label them male and female, but this could be criticized as judgmental from a gender standpoint. So, I have labeled them “Authorized Persons” and “Unauthorized Persons”. I use the one for unauthorized persons. My office manager is in charge of authorizing persons; so far she is the only authorized person. I asked her about this and she said that I am on the waiting list and might make the cut some day, but to stop asking. We needed a new Dean. Dean Johnson, world famous BAR gunner and part-time confederate soldier, has been an essential part of getting out the Bullet, working the gun show table, and every other project we have. He has done so with unfailing good humor. This seems suspicious to me, but it seems this is normal for him. He needs some rest. It is very difficult to replace Dean. Fortunately we found Bob Brannock. Bob is a veteran, and we told him he had been called back up for the war on terror; don’t tell him differently, it is hard to find a new Dean. Few people know why Dean left the Navy. It seems that it was his turn to drive the ship the same night the Chinese did something objectionable. Dean turned the ship toward China and called down to the engine room RAMMING SPEED, GIVE ME RAMMING SPEED! A detachment of Marines convinced him to let someone else drive the ship. Dean decided that if he couldn’t drive, it just wasn’t worth taking the cruise. It brought him to us, so it was all good. My coffee pot broke during the move to my new office. I have been without coffee for days. I think it is affecting my memory. A bill to abolish the Permit to Acquire (PTA) system for handguns was introduced in the Missouri legislature. It was introduced late in the session, too late for any action, but a hearing was held on it. WMSA President Derek Ward attended, and I appeared as president of Missourians for Personal Safety. Annett Brusch, a High school senior and 4H pistol shooter appeared to testify about gun restrictions on persons under the age of 21. The opposition was not deterred by this evidence of reality. A Mr. Covington from the Sheriff’s Association claimed that abolishing the PTA system would allow drunks, meth dealers, and persons under indictment to buy guns. He said that the $10 fee does not cover the manpower and paperwork. He was asked if he had ever seen someone arrested for violation of the PTA law; he could only think of one, and that guy had been arrested primarily for dealing in stolen property. Linda Shack of Citizens for Missouri’s Children claimed to be a voice for children, their parents are apparently incompetent to act as a voice. She claimed that the law is both a success and that children get handguns anyway. No connection to reality, no internal consistency. I noticed that the committee was confused over the check done by the PTA sheriff’s check, and the more extensive check done by the federal NICS. I tried to clear this up. I noticed the surprise on the committee’s faces when I told them that it was a crime punishable by jail to violate the PTA law. I don’t know what they thought they were doing when they passed these laws. There was no intention of passing the bill this session, and the legislature adjourned for the year without taking it up. We laid the groundwork for next year. The WMSA website and the last BULLET published my work “This is a gunfight”. Some people think it is a poem. It is not a poem. It is short, pithy advice on what to do in a gunfight, cheating is not only allowed, it is rewarded. Sheila boards the Hounds of Hell in her kennel whenever the Devil is on vacation. I don’t know if a contract is signed. I have a professional interest in such a document, but historically such contracts do not turn out well. The show “Numbers” had episode with a sniper. It alleges a formula that gun possession equals snipers. The plot claims that one sniper infects society and anyone with a rifle runs out to emulate the first sniper. There could be copycat sniping, but these are limited by the number of deranged persons who have not been elected to office. The “Hancock Fix” amendment to the LTC law was passed by the entire legislature. This corrects the financing language allowing sheriffs to use the $100 fee for any costs related to administering the program. As soon as the governor signs it, and he will, the last excuse for refusing to issue licenses in St. Louis City and County disappears. This does not mean that the opposition will give up. They will claim that the process costs more than $100 at a start, and then more imaginative and fictitious claims. We continue to have work to do. The legislature adjourned without any other amendment to the LTC law, or any other firearms law. This lack of drama is responsible for the poor showing at the Rally this year. I can live with it. It has been a good year, but next year we will have to fight for it. The opposition will reorganize in preparation for the election; we have some time to get ready. We know that we can win; we just have to buckle down and do it. After four years Precious Doe has finally been identified and suspects in her murder charged. It seems that when the little girl was being tortured, neighbors did not report her screams because they did not consider it their business. At a guess in the time it took to celebrate the victory of the community in solving the crime, hundreds of little girls have been tortured. It appears that a group of nazis planned to move their headquarters to Wyandotte County Kansas. There was a local outcry. The nazis changed their minds, so to speak. The community takes credit for the change, but I doubt it. The nazis may have discovered that their planned headquarters was the largest concentration of African Americans in Kansas. A more credible report is that the wife of the great leader of the nazis told him that he could not move to Kansas. There was a convention of nazis in the area, which decreased the average IQ considerably; this must be what broke my coffee pot, I have been without coffee for three days. We shall overcome. |
