DECLARATION OF RIGHT |

|
When citizens determine the need to exercise a freedom long neglected, a respect for their fellow citizens' opinions demands that they openly declare the need to exercise this right. It is self evident that all persons have the right of self-defense. That to ensure equality in this right, guns have been developed. The legislature has taken away the right to carry the most effective self-defense tools by a series of acts which target honest citizens but do not protect them. These legislative acts began in post-Civil War Missouri to disarm ex-slaves and reduce them to a state of dependency and vulnerability. These legislative acts continue in order to keep the citizens dependent on government. That under these disarming measures citizens who feel threatened have no alternative but to vote money and power to government agencies in hopes of receiving security and protection in return. The legislature has refused to guarantee protection to citizens thus disarmed. Abused women are told they are incompetent to protect themselves. Victims of hate crimes are advised to wait for government protection, which never comes. Rape victims are told to reject violence, but denied the means to reject it. Citizens who have armed themselves against stalkers and community threats have been charged with the felony of carrying a concealed weapon. The state which could not protect them, makes them criminals for protecting themselves. Forty-three states have successfully employed a License To Carry system. Not one of these states has moved to restrict or abolish their system but have instead made licenses easier to obtain and use. If Missouri adopted a similar License system it would save thirty lives a year. To refuse such benefits on such spurious grounds as have been presented is an insult to the Citizens of this State.
