While we were working the Senate, I asked Greg Pugh and his lovely wife Loni and some others [who I do not name here because I am unsure if they want their names disclosed publicly] to go ask Senator Delbert Scott to "exec" [vote on] SB83 Tuesday as well. They were told that he would. And sure enough, after the regularly scheduled hearing at 3pm, the "Pensions and General Laws" committee voted "Do Pass" on SCS SB83 with only Senators Jacob, Kennegy, and Quick voting "no". Please call, fax and/or email the following senators and say "thank you" for their support of SCS SB83: Delbert Scott (573)751-8793 fax (573)751-2745 Chuck Gross (573)751-8635 fax (573)751-9752 Dan Clemens (573)751-4008 fax (573)751-2745 Peter Kinder (573)751-2455 fax (573)751-2902 David Klindt (573)751-1415 fax (573)751-8342 SCS SB83 will now go to the full senate and be put on the calendar to await its turn for floor debate. BACK IN THE HOUSE The House should vote on HS HCS HB349 et al as amended [yes that is the official description] Thursday before adjournment. There is expected to be one "perfection" amendment, but it is only a technical correction and should pass no problem. The overall bill is expected to pass with the only question being by how much [we hope BIG... but???]. In the earlier post I expressed my hope that you would call some people. Very many of you have and I thank you for it. I renew my request and ask that you have your pro-LTC friends contact them as well. [[For those of you who may not have seen the list, I repeat it at the bottom]] I ask that you also email those same individuals a nice thank you note as well. When I talked to some of them earlier, they were getting your phone calls. But Representative Crawford was also getting some "hate email" too. It is such a simple thing to do. And I know most of you may not believe it, but a simple email or faxed in note of thanks and support is a GREAT thing... especially for guys like Rep. Crawford who expend the full measure in support of our issues. PLEASE take a few moments and call, write, fax and email Rep. Crawford and the others on the list below and say "thank you"... they deserve it! When the House passes the bill, it will move to the Senate. We here at MPS, GCLA, WMSA have been coordinating with the NRA while working with the House and Senate to chart HB349's course through the senate. We are identifying potential obstacles and working strategies to overcome them. Things look pretty good right now but we still have a long way to go. YOUR team is working this issue and working it well. Stay tuned and help out anyway you can.
