| What Are You Thankful For? |
| November 23, 2005 |
| As we sit down at our Thanksgiving Dinners for 2005, it is not a bad
time to reflect on what we should truly be thankful for. We can be thankful that we live in a nation based on the rule of law. We can be thankful that we have men and women willing to dedicate their lives as fire, police and emergency services personnel to safe-guard and protect our homes and cities. We can be thankful that we have men and women willing to put their lives on the line in our military services to insure our freedom and liberty. We can be thankful that we live in a nation where one is limited only by ones personal ambition and vision of the future. We can be thankful for a form of government that changes through the ballot box and not the rifle bullet. We can be thankful that we live in a country where we can worship and give thanks to our God without government approval. While we can be thankful for all these things, we must never forget that these freedoms were not and are not free. There was price paid to obtain them and there will be a price required to keep them. In closing, here is a tribute to those who have paid in the past, and will pay in the future:
